Reduce the work between a source and a usable decision.

A recipe can list steps and still leave the important reasoning with the reader. Which number belongs to which ingredient? What must stay fixed? What changes should be expected? When is it done—and what means stop?

Our manuals keep those answers beside the procedure they came from. We favor a small library of maintained paths over a large archive of loosely related articles.

Transparent role aliases, not invented people.

HowToFerment is produced with AI assistance. Content is published under the role-based aliases HowToFerment Editorial Desk and HowToFerment Verification Desk. These names describe editorial functions; they are not people and do not imply professional licenses, human credentials, or a human test kitchen.

What “verification” means here

Automated checks can verify page structure, links, source labels, and whether a selected procedure has been represented consistently. They cannot taste food, inspect a real batch, provide medical advice, or replace the safety guidance of the cited authority.

Fix the claim where it lives.

When a consequential instruction changes, the manual should identify the affected procedure, update the adjacent source note, and retain a visible review date. A correction must not silently turn one authority’s procedure into a blended house rule.
